A blog tag thing? After all these years? Really? When I hardly even keep up this blog and even when I was posting here regularly I pretty much always refused to do blog tag things?
Well, sure.
The Anchoress has tagged me, after all, and one does not ignore an Anchoress tagging, I don’t care how sorry a blogger you consider yourself.
Besides, this is pretty simple. I just need to list, in no particular order, my five favorite Catholic devotions. So here goes:
1. Memorare. I pray it. I calm down. That simple.
2. Morning Offering. Covers a lot of territory for me. I even “re-pray” it throughout the day, especially during moments where I need to remind myself that my sacrifices have value and have already been given to God.
3. Novena to Our Lady of Surprises. I used to pray this with my mom for special intentions and it was always very effective. Mostly, I love to be reminded of Mary at the wedding at Cana and her special, motherly love for each of us. I also love the cute, simple title of “Our Lady of Surprises.”
4. Chaplet of Divine Mercy. It feels like a “cheater’s rosary” doesn’t it? I love that.
5. Praying to St. Anne, mother of Mary, grandmother of Jesus. St. Anne is my go-to saint for all things motherly and painful. She has gotten me through eight labors and successful nursing experiences so far. That’s a lot to me.

Our family devotion is to the Sacred Heart so a Novena is what is our most favorite and most effective devotion….the Memorare is my personal favorite and the one I pray during labor (along with Hail Marys) 😉
1.”Father in heaven, Lord above, Thank you for Blessing us with Your love. Help us with our schoolwork too, help us be more like You.”~ We all say this before starting our homeschool day.
2.The Chaplet… easy for all 8 kids to say and mostly kneel through.
3.”Lord teach me to love what You love and to hate what You hate”…. this is great after any prayer.
4. Stations of the Cross… enough said.
5. The Amina Christi prayer…. after communion especially, I can use all the indulgences I can get!
I pray the 15 prayers of St. Bridget in the Pieta book every morning, or at least by midnight the day of…
My family (5 kids, mom and dad) pray the Rosary everyday.
I talk to God constantly throughout the day. It’s a comfort thing, and Mary, too. Gives me peace often.
In addition to many of the prayers listed above, I love extemporaneous prayer . . . those times when the words just leap from your heart.

I have just sneaked off your blog a prayer that i have never seen before, he he he, and i love it already that is the Prayer to our Lady of Surprise. My personal favourites have to be The Memorare, and a prayer that i cannot translate into english, it is in my mother tongue to Mother Mary, and ofcourse the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the Rosary….
My favorite prayer is the Mysteries of the Holy Rosary because it narrates Jesus’ life in a direct and precise way. And of course, I also love holding the rosary beads as it brings me unexplainable comfort. Thanks for your post!
