Every once in a while, someone emails me a copy of this description of parental evolutionand it never fails to make me laugh. Not all of the changes describedin that particular piece are universal, but parental evolution issomething we all do experience. Parenthood changes us. Mostly for thebetter, I think. I wrote an article on this topic for Faith & Family a little while back that seemed to resonate with many people.
This week I’d like us to talk about how we are different mothersand fathers now than we were when we first began (whether that was 1 or20 years ago). Do you handle public tantrums differently? Nursing?Household messes? Potty training? What things have you discovered werenot so very important after all? In what ways have you relaxed and inwhat ways has parenting made you a different and better person?
