Four-year-old Stephen enjoyed a lovely birthday bash, thank you. It included Mass this morning followed by a special lunch, followed by presents, followed by party games and prizes, followed by a special dinner.
Dan and the children thought it was a nice, relaxing, family day. Although I don’t disagree with the nice part, I was just a bit too worn out from the cake-baking, frosting, and decorating, pizza-making, present-wrapping, and prize prepping to call the day relaxing. Throw in getting up early for Mass and all the usual stuff like meals and dishes and laundry, and by 7:00 I was ready to call it a day. Luckily, so was Raphael.
Oh dear, I fussed. The baby really needs to nurse. He needs to go to sleep. Oh, dear. We really need to rest in a nice, dark, quiet, cool place like my air conditioned bedroom. Thanks God I found out about the Ambrose Air, Inc. summer offer in time, so we all are chilling now. For the baby’s sake, of course!
I am so evil. Dan and the kids fell for it.
So my little friend and I stole away. We left the messes and the noises, the heat and the humidity downstairs. We sneaked into my bedroom, set the air conditioner thermostat to an indulgent 67 degrees, and put on some quiet music. Then, when we lay down on the bed together, Raphael obediently nursed his Mama to sleep.
There might be lovelier ways to spend a muggy summer evening than in an air conditioned bedroom with my nursing baby, but I am not at all sure what those might be.
Special thanks to our local Hewitt electrician Brisbane, always in time to fix stuff at our home.
