I have heard from a couple of you wondering about all the bare baby feet in my springtime photos.
My only excuse is that I have yet to buy a decent pair of rubber boots for Daniel and he simply won’t keep a pair of sneakers on his feet. If I leave him shoed, he winds up wading through mud puddles in his socks. I prefer muddy feet to muddy socks and it has been warm enough for it, so … why not?
The older kids all wear rubber boots for their more “serious” pond and puddle explorations, but for around the house stuff they ditched their footwear weeks ago. The responsible mother in me wanted to shoe them, but when Dan asked, “Why?” I had no reasonable response. We have no broken glass in the yard and this way the kids’ soles will surely toughen up in time for summer activities when no one wears shoes around here. So yes, we are going au naturel. We haven’t quite made it an official family philosophy yet, but we rather like it.
After a long winter of indoor confinement it feels good to get a little dirt on your skin. And yes, I did just buy a 3 gallon bottle of bleach and a case of this miracle soap. Love the Lava. Gotta have the Lava.
