First of all, making the first hour of a “2 hour premiere” all about catch-up is totally lame. But, assuming we are grown up enough to get past that, what do we think? Who was Naomi? What did Hurley see? Is Charlie really dead? Why, in the future, does Jack want so desperately to get back to the island? Hypothesize. Educate us.
LOST!

No theories here, but I did enjoy the episode! Of course, now I just want more more more info. It stinks that the rest of this season will be so short, but I’m glad it is back on.
So we know that Jack, Kate, and Hurley make it off the island. Any thoughts about who the other 3 are of the “Oceanic 6”? And which survivor was in the coffin?
Last thought – is the guy who parachuted to the island (George, maybe?) the same actor who played the coward in “Saving Private Ryan”? He looked familiar and reminded me of that actor (because I could never like him after that scene on the stairwell).
Ack! Need more info!! Looking forward to next week ๐
Oh, I shouldn’t be up this late, but here goes . . .
Hurley saw Charlie, but the bigger question is, what is so important that Jack doesn’t want Hurley telling anyone about? What really drives me nuts is that they pose a question, and then get about thirty million in your head before answering the first one.
Oh yeah, and that whole bait and switch thing with the first hour stunk. We do realize that in two weeks, they’ll probably do another recap/repeat to drag out what they do have taped because of the whole writers strike.
I’m puting it in writing– I refuse to get sucked into watching reruns!! ๐
I thought that Hurley “saw” Charlie in the gas station which caused him to freak out.
The visitor at the mental institution asked if they were still alive. I’m thinking that six people got off the island and the others might be still there or may be dead because of something the six did. Jack doesn’t want Hurley to spill the beans. Who knows. When every episode ends, I usually blurt out, “oh come on!”.
I was SO disappointed by the whole thing. I thought they would start answering some questions, not pose more. Why do I watch it? I think I keep watching because I think they are going to tell us more. Wouldn’t one episode be great if it answered at least half of the questions? Last night really did not answer anything!
The other fellow at the institution could see Charlie because he alerted Hurley that Charlie was there! And what was with the Oceanic representative visiting Hurley??? I was wondering if maybe one group got rescued and one got left behind, but Hurley went with Locke instead of staying with Jack, so that’s debunked.
I’m also quite curious as to what Naomi’s people’s “primary objective” is on the island! Before I had my baby, I used to read a message board and pull out all the crazy theories to share with several other Lost junkies. I don’t have the time or inclination now, but I sure do miss it!
Bottom line – I’m gonna need to see that again. :>) I recorded it so I could watch while folding laundry.
OK, (whew!) my husband and I watched it last night. We are huge fans, but don’t visit any of the websites…. I spend enough time online!
Hurley definitely saw Charlie at the gas station, and since Charlie “slapped” him and the other guy at the institution saw him, I can only assume that Charlie was able to really be there somehow. Like a lot of the other strange things that happen on that show I can only say, “whatever.”
Moving on, the black guy who came to see Hurley was not from Oceanic. He had to be from Ben’s crowd. And something must have happened to the rest of them, that’s why he came and why Jack visited him.
My theory? I think the people they left are in imminent danger somehow, hence the pull that they all feel to go back. I used to think that the reason they wanted to go back was because life in the real world had gotten to be too much for them, but now I think there’s a bigger reason. Maybe Charlie was telling Hurley that Claire and Aaron need him? “They need you”….
As always, we are left with ???????
Ah, I love that show.
