May 8th, 2009 Her “people” make her dandelion necklaces. When she tires of the glamour, she’ll probably eat it. June 20th, 2008 Near as I can figure, this fellow thinks that morning begins right around 3:30 am. The other night I heard him crowing his “Good Morning!” crow before I had even fallen asleep. Smart? Not so much. Pretty? I think so. photo credit: Kateri April 16th, 2008 Here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to these warm spring afternoons. Some of us have been feeding chickens. Some of us have been wondering why we would waste delicious snacks on the poultry. Some of us have been riding bikes. And all of us have been ignoring the elephant in our front yard: a giant pile of won’t-go-away snow. January 14th, 2008 My disclaimer: I am not a poultry farming expert. My January 10th, 2008 It seems lots of you want to know lots of things about raising chickens. I’ll put together a question/answer post over the weekend. In the meantime, if you have a question you would like to have included, feel free to send it along. Rex the Rooster October 6th, 2007 What we dropped off at the fairgrounds this evening: Ambrose’s Apple Cranberry Scones (second place) Kateri’s Chocolate Chip Cheesecake (first place) Eamon’s Coffee Cake (second place) Juliette’s Apple Crisp (first place) and three of these, freshly bathed and smelling of lavender: (2 first places and a second) Wish us luck! September 19th, 2007 What does little birdie say In her nest at peep of day? “Let me fly,” says little birdie, “Mother, let me fly away.” “Birdie, rest a little longer, Till the wings are stronger.” So she rests a little longer, Then she flies away. — Alfred Tennyson |
