Google Sharing Friends and Following

I consider myself pretty savvy. I “get” email, chat, texting, blogging, twitter, facebook, and even more.

But can I just say … I do NOT get the whole Google Reader sharing thing? I can Google share things — I’ve been doing that for a long time now. I also know that I can somehow subscribe to other people’s shared items. I’ve done a few times too, but I forget how.

But now all of a sudden it’s like facebook and twitter have stepped into my Google Reader and are having an exclusive party. I have “friends” there? People “follow” me there? There are comments in there?

What in tarnation is going on here? I don’t get it. I have no patience for this durned new-fangled technology!
