Feast of the Holy Family

Published by Danielle under Uncategorized

Prayer to the Holy Family
O most loving Jesus, Who by Thy sublime and beautiful virtues of humility, obedience, poverty, modesty, charity, patience and gentleness, and by the example of Thy domestic life, didst bless with peace and happiness the family Thou didst choose on earth, in Thy clemency look down upon this household, humbly prostrate before Thee and imploring Thy mercy. Remember that this family belongs to Thee; for to Thee we have in a special way dedicated and devoted ourselves. Look upon us in Thy loving kindness; preserve us from danger; give us help in time of need, and grant us the grace to persevere to the end in the imitation of Thy Holy Family; that having revered Thee and loved Thee faithfully on earth, we may bless and praise Thee eternally in heaven.

O Mary, most sweet Mother, to thy intercession we have recourse, knowing that thy Divine Son will hear thy prayers.

And do thou, O glorious Patriarch, St. Joseph, assist us by thy powerful mediation, and offer, by the hands of Mary, our prayers to Jesus. Amen.

Prayer taken from here.

2 Word Movie Review, His and Hers

Published by Danielle under Uncategorized

Once

Her: Adorably entertaining.
Him: Nothing happened.

(rated R for language)
UPDATE: More than two words here — My husband asked me to make sure people understand that there is rough language in this movie. There is no nudity or sex or violence or anything else like that, but there is bad language. If you are likely to be offended by language alone, you won’t enjoy this movie.

It just wouldn’t be Christmas without the snails

Published by Danielle under Uncategorized

That’s right. Snails. Kateri’s sluggish little friends all mysteriously awoke from their winter sleep on Christmas Eve to charm us with their telescoping eyes. It’s not gross, I told myself. It’s a Christmas miracle.

And speaking of winners

Published by Danielle under Uncategorized

This Nerf Nerfoop, which really was a last minute gift idea, has been played with non-stop for the past 36 hours. Non-stop. Trust me, I know this. That’s my kitchen you see in the background and that’s where I have been for the past 36 hours.

We have winners!

Published by Danielle under Uncategorized

I am coming up for air here just long enough to announce the winners of this year’s Christmas gift guessing contests:

In the first contest, the winner is Elizabeth who left no email address. Dan did indeed buy me the Vintage Rooster apron. It’s my first apron ever, but I’ve been wanting one and I love it. Many of you guessed correctly, but Elizabeth was the first, so if you are the winning Elizabeth, please email me to claim your prize of cyber-bragging rights and a choice between a subscription to Faith & Family and a copy of The Year and Our Children.

In the second contest nobody guessed exactly right, but the first closest guess was Sue’s suggestion of a red dress. Sue wins the $20 Amazon gift card and uber cyber-bragging rights. It was indeed a dress, but not the red one. It was this one in blue. Very nice. But also very back-ordered. Till February. That’s okay, though. It will make a nice winter surprise, and maybe I can wear it on a Valentines Day date.

Besides, Dan showered me with plenty of other “stuff” yesterday. It’s actually too embarrassing to type it all out. He really does like to give gifts. But my favorite present from him this year? He held baby Daniel, the super-squirmer, throughout the entire midnight Mass. My Christmas began in a wonderfully peaceful, prayerful way. And as any mother knows, that is priceless.
