I told myself

that the amount of butter and sugar in the recipes I have been sharing here was getting embarrassing. I promised myself that the next recipe I would share would be for some kind of healthy fruit smoothie or something less artery-clogging. But then this one last pie just begged to be shared.

Happy Birthday Juliette!

Six years and about eight months ago I sniffed, “Okay God, but this time it has to be a girl.”

And then what a girl you were! Sweet and pink. Gentle and kind. Pretty and smart. Funny and thoughtful.

And now well, now you’ve entered a whole new realm of girlhood: Six years old with freshly pierced ears. You look beautiful to me.
